Domains: Divination, Time, Fate

Zelek is the great seer. He peers through the mists of time, discerning lessons from the past and deciphering glimpes of the future. His followers seek to understand past, present and future and are valued the world over for their insights.

Mortal Life

Zelek was born high atop a mountain to a family of monastic mages who spent much of their lives in quiet contemplation. As he grew up he learned to revere the stillness and silence of solitude, using it to glean wisdom from the wind itself.

He emerged as an Osis during his sixteenth year, and his command over magic awed his people. They afforded him the tutelage necessary to realize his abilities, and by the time he was seventeen Zelek was a powerful diviner.

Within three more he was raised to head of their order, because his immense wisdom impressed all who met him. Zelek spent the next six decades studying divination on that mountain, and unlike the rest of the Stewards he didn’t venture to so much as a single catalyst. He believed all the secrets he needed could be learned without ever leaving the mountain.

When Zelek awoke to find himself atop Mount Shyar he greeted Rei with a smile. He had forseen this day, and knew what Rei would ask of him. Before the god could speak Zelek spoke two words that altered his fate forever. I accept.

Rei didn’t bother explaining what it was he wanted Zelek to do, or even why he was raising him to be a Steward. Zelek had already glimpsed visions of a possible future when an elder god returned to ravage the world. He knew what was at stake, and set out to discern enough of the future that he might prevent such an eventuality.

Elevated by Rei

After his elevation Zelek returned to Mount Shyar to dwell in a fabulous city that Rei had created for the Stewards. He was aware that more followers would swell his power, but had no desire to spend his days converting men to his cause.

Yet he knew that such strength would be needed, so he began to visit each of the major cities in the land. He brought word of the future, and taught hundreds of disciples to glean the secrets of time. Many proved promising, and before long an entire temple had sprung up around Zelek.

He encouraged his followers to recruit others, and once he was satisfied that they could run things without him he retreated back to the solitude of Mount Shyar. He used his powers to bestow dedications upon his followers, and was rarely seen for the next several centuries.

To this day Zelek is the most reclusive of the Stewards, and the only one not seen by his faithful on a regular basis. Yet because of the nature of his powers he and his followers are always in high demand.

Orders of Zelek

Flame Readers– On one of his few sojourns from Mount Shyar Zelek visited the tribes of nomads living in the blasted lands. He taught their most gifted shamans the secrets of flame reading, the art of divining the future by staring into fire. It is one of the most accurate ways to divine the future, and to this day flame readers are highly sought the world over. Hasra has even gone so far as to enslave them where possible, though Zelek reputedly takes a dim view of this practice.

The Sightless– the Sightless are Zelek’s far more common order, at least in the West. They wear white robes and dwell in marble temples located in every major city across the west. They gain their name from the fact that the senior members of the order often put out their own eyes, because they believe that seeing the present interferes with their view of the future.

The Sightless are given incredible latitude and respect, because they possess a unique talent others rely heavily upon. In each of the major cities a special room is set aside. Tablets are placed on the floor of this room every morning, each containing a message, news or other vital information.

The Sightless in the outlying temples scry on these rooms every morning, and then transcribe all the information from the tablets. In this way knowledge can cross great distances overnight, when it would normally take weeks or months of travel to reach the far corners of the West.

Zaro is the steward of war and chaos. He values martial skill above all else, from leading battles to single combat. His followers dedicate themselves to his ideals, striving to perfect themselves until they are eventually recognized by the Steward himself.

Mortal Life

Zaro was born on the frigid northern tundra to a tribe of warlike barbarians. As a touched he rapidly eclipsed every other warrior in his tribe. Before the age of eighteen he’d kill seventy men in single combat, which began his legend as a living specter of death on the battlefield.

A man with his martial prowess could have easily conquered every northern tribe, forging them into a massive army capable of sweeping down and overwhleming all other kingdoms of the day. But Zaro cared nothing for leadership. The only thing that interested him was seeking the next combat in the hopes of meeting a worthy foe.

Zaro sought such a man for long years, but no matter how many times he faced an opponent none ever stood before him. With each passing year he became more jaded, but he continued his endless search.

When he awoke one morning to find himself standing atop Mount Shyar he was overjoyed. Surely the golden figure standing before him was the foe he’d been searching for. Zaro attacked, but his axe passed through the figure as it if were not there. He flew into a rage, but every attack ended the same way. He could not harm Rei.

The golden god explained to Zaro that a few elder gods lurked beyond the bounds of the world in the vastness of the void. One day they would return and when they did the world would need a champion to stand against them. If Zaro wished the perfect opponent he could only find it in the elder gods themselves.

Zaro was overjoyed at the news and eagerly accepted Rei’s offer to become a Steward. The god presented him with a wicked two handed axe, a powerful eldimagus the elevated Zaro to a level far beyond other mortals.

Elevated By Rei

After his elevation Zaro wandered Argan for many years. He sought battle wherever he went, and when he found two armies fighting would often join one side at random. The warriors of the world quickly learned to fear and respect him, and before long many began to worship Zaro.

Zaro didn’t care. He sought no followers and he did not lead armies. He was a living weapon, interested only in testing himself against worthy foes. In the millenia since he was continued to seek such a one, but to date none have been able to stand against the Steward of War.

Orders of Zaro

The Warmasters– Zaro’s most famous followers are the highly respected Warmasters. Warmasters were born in the early days of the Elentian Empire. They are trained with spear, sword, shield and armor and are some of the finest warriors in the world. They strive to improve their martial abilities, but are also phenomenal battle leaders. This is somewhat ironic, as the Steward they follow has no experience being a general.

The Zerkers– Zerkers are a disparate order with one thing in common. Rage. Each emulates Zaro, endlessly striving to become the perfect warrior. They rarely work together, though when they do enemies often flee in terror.

Domains: Luck, Pleasure, Hope

Thandres is the Stewardess of both luck and pleasure. Those who earn their favor find themselves incredibly blessed, while those who earn their ire learn to hate their wretched existences. Nearly every town has at least a shrine to Thandres, and every city has a temple or two.

Thandres as a Mortal

Thandres began life as a beautiful young daughter of a king. She lived a hedonistic lifestyle, always seeking to explore a new vice or find some new pleasure. This fact drove her father into intense ranges, because Thandres was brilliant. He knew that she could be anything she set her mind to, but nothing interested her save pleasure.

So he disowned her. Thandres was cast out of his palace, and an edict was spread throughout the land that any who gave succor to his daughter would be put to death. This left Thandres in a difficult position, as she had no one to turn to.

She left her father’s kingdom and set out to make a new life for herself. Having never done anything for herself this was enormously difficult, but within a few months she’d adjusted. Her intelligence and beauty helped her find a place in the world, but not nearly so much as when she catalized as a drean mage.

Thandres caught the attention of an adventuring band when the leader fell in love with her. They escorted her to several catalysts, and before long she’d become a mage of incredible power. She’d also mastered the more stealthy arts, which served her well over the years.

By the time Rei found her Thandres was a world renowed thief and illusionist. When she awoke one morning to find herself atop Mount Shyar she assumed Rei must want to sleep with her, so she disrobed. No one knows for sure what his reaction might have been, though when the subject is brought up Thandres often wears a satisfied smile.

Rei explained that the world was in terrible danger, and that only through the collective efforts of the men and women he’d elevated could it be saved. He wanted Thandres to join them, because while she was fickle she was also powerful, perceptive and generally fair.

Thandres agreed largely because she was curious about the experience of being elevated to a Stewards, nor was she disappointed. Rei gave her a silvery neck torque of incredible power. He explained to her the concept of worship, and that she’d need to entice followers if she wished to increase her power.

Elevated by Rei

Thandres used her newfound powers to spread pleasure and luck to anyone who pleased her. Before long those people learned that if they worshipped her they tended to enjoy her favor. More and more people sent her whispered prayers. After all, who didn’t want to be lucky?

The other Stewards often resented Thandres, as they couldn’t understand why Rei would have elevated someone with her temperment to the office of a Steward. Thandres understood though. She’d been elevated, because she filled a critical role none of the others understood.

A man without pleasure has no real reason to live. His life becomes a dull and meaningless. For those who already have no hope the prospect of a Steward who could bring them great fortune gave them a reason to continue living.

Thandres served both roles. She brought hope to the downtrodden, and pleasure to those who had very little to live for. It helped that she greatly enjoyed her work, for it allowed her to spread hedonism across the continent.

Orders of Thandres

The Temple of Thandres– Thandres only has one official order, though untold thousands pray to her daily. Her temples are found in any city over a few thousand people, though most of the other dedicated will argue the fact that they are temples.

The reason is because the Temples of Thandres exist to cater to the whims of patrons. They provide sex, drugs, massage, companionship or anything else that might bring pleasure. The dedicated who have pledged themselves to Thandres are the ones who offer such pleasures, and they dutifully attend to every need their patron might have.

They do not charge for their services, but patrons are expected to make a donation. Those that do not often find themselves the target of Thandres’s ire, and bad luck is not something anyone wants to end up cursed with.

Tavren is the Steward of smithing, Enchanting and creation. Craftsmen the world over pray to him for guidance, and he is responsible for making the most powerful eldimagi since the godswar. He has taught most of the cultures of the west, including fabled Enuria before it was sacked.

Mortal Life

Tavren was considered a great oddity in his day. At the time most people sought to destroy or to take from others. He spent his time creating, and giving freely of his creations to all in need. Tavren began life as a smith, but became an Osis who manifested first life and then air magic. He became a renowned enchanter in the small king he called home, creating all manner of eldimagi and enchanted items.

Tavren believed that society was built upon a thousand little kindnesses, and that any help rendered to his fellow man would be repaid tenfold. As his power grew he founded a small city outside the boundaries of any known kingdom. Thousands of refugees and travellers made a home there, and together they lived in harmony during a time when few knew the definition of the word.

Tavren was more surprised than frightened when he woke one morning to find himself standing atop Mount Shyar. His natural curiousity filled him with questions about the strange golden figure before him, but he curtailed them and decided to listen.

Rei asked him what he would create if he had infinite power and time. Tavren answered without hesitation. He would build a better world where no one was hungry and everyone could sleep without fear of dying from exposure.

The golden figure gave Tavren an amazing smith’s hammer, one far beyond any eldimagus he’d ever crafted or even dreamed of. The god explained that Tavren could use the hammer to gather worship, and that he could use his new power to build a better world. Tavren was overjoyed and decided to do exactly as he’d been instructed.

Elevated by Rei

Tavren returned to his city blessed with newfound power. He showed his apprentices what he could do, quickly erecting a fabulous city in place of the crude stone buildings. Within days he’d converted everyone in the city to his faithful, and each new prayer further increased his strength.

Tavren’s abilities were put to good use over the next several centuries. He was instrumental in teaching the enchanters of the Elentian Empire, and for creating many of the greater eldimagi used by the empire before the fall. Since that time he can most often be found in Valys working at the Hammer of Reevanthara, where he creates many of his greatest works.

Orders of Tavren

Enurian Bladesmiths– Tavren wandered the world for years before finding the city of Enuria. When he discovered the Forge of Reevanthara he was overjoyed, for he’d never envisioned anything so perfect for smithing or enchanting. He stayed with the Enurians for nearly a decade and during that time taught their smiths many secrets.

When he left the Bladesmiths revered him with prayer. After Enuria fell those few who survived have continued their devotion to Tavren. Many hope that he will one day call them together to help forge a new homeland.

He considers himself to be judge, jury and excecutioner and will not hesitate to pass judgement wherever and whenever he deems fit. People the world over are justifiably nervous about the knights who serve him, as they will pass judgement regardless of the laws in whatever nation the happen to be in.

Life as a Mortal

Dalanthar began life as the child of a judge in a small citystate no one remembers. His father taught him to respect authority in any form, and he learned to administer it harshly and without prejudice as he grew older. Dalanthar joined a local order of knights, becoming their best swordsmen in a startlingly short period of time.

He quickly earned the title of ‘perfect knight’, because not only did he excel in combat he was also the purest of the pure. He dutifully followed all the dictates of his order without complaint, and openly looked down on those of his fellows who did not do the same.

Yet there was a darker side to Dalanthar. He was utterly ruthless in his adminstration of justice, and proved unwilling to bend no matter the circumstances. A starving woman stole a loaf of bread? The punishment was death, irregardless of circumstance.

When Dalanthar awoke atop Mount Shyar to find himself standing before Rei he immediately went to one knee. Here was the ultimate authority, the highest ideal of justice.

Rei explained to Dalanthar that wickness and chaos were rampant in the world. They were dangerous forces and if left unchecked could cause untold harm to the world. Dalanthar knew these words to be true, and asked how he might prevent this horrible fate.

Rei gifted him with a magnificent two handed sword, a fabulous eldimagus far more powerful than anything Dalanthar could have dreamed. The god explained how the sword would aid him in gathering worship, and bade him go forth to recruit the just to his cause.

Elevated by Rei

Dalanthar took to his newfound powers with far more zeal than any of the other new Stewards. He rooted out corruption with violent efficiency, purifying the land of all he considerd unjust. Before long men began worshipping him, partly out of fear, partly out of a desire to see right done in the world.

The Perfect Knight’s holy crusade continued for centuries. His followers purified the land, wiping out those who didn’t fit their ideal of justice. Dalanthar applauded their zeal, joining them as often as he could in punishing the wicked.

Orders of Dalanthar

Dalanthar has two very prominent orders and a host of smaller ones. Each is an order of knights. Some have radically different fighting styles, but all share the same basic ideology. Justice at any cost.

The Knights of the Dawn– the knights of the Dawn are stalwart warriors, consumate politicians and world renowned judges. They form the backbone of the judiciary branch of the Hasran government, and have outposts from Arlen to Olivantia. They are by far and away both the most revered and populous of Dalanthar’s servants.

The Knights of the Twilight– the Knights of the Twilight are the much less beloved companions to the Knights of the Dawn. They are far more likely to use a knife in the dark to silence the unjust than to have a showy trial. Since they don’t balk at assassination and have no qualms about breaking local laws every government fears and mistrusts them.

Amarigen as a Mortal

Amarigen began life in a tiny village in a long forgotten kingdom. Shortly after his sixteenth birthday he manifested earth magic, and not long after discovered an affinity for Life as well. These two aspects unlocked the greater path of nature, which Amarigen eagerly explored.

In those days very few shamans, druids or rangers existed as the magic was still being explored by curious mages. Amarigen was one of the first, and he was widely respected by his peers because of his natural gift with magic.

For nearly six decades he explored the world, learning from those who could teach, teaching those who would learn. He journeyed to nearly two dozen catalysts in that time, which vastly increased his power and lengthened his lifespan.

Amarigen didn’t consider any one place to be home, but rather any place of natural beauty could serve that purpose. He whiled away entire seasons in vast forests, arid deserts and frozen tundras. This was particularly easy, because he’d mastered hundreds of animal forms from ever climate.

Rumors claimed that Amarigen was even permitted to study with the ageless Vithi, though few know the truth of such rumors.

Elevation by Rei

Amarigen was shocked to awaken one morning at the top of a mountain he’d never seen. Standing before him was a figure comprised of golden light so bright that he couldn’t look directly at it. The figure gave it’s name as Rei, and asked Amarigen what he would do if he were given the power to change the world.

Despite the strange circumstances Amarigen answered without hesitation. He would safeguard nature from the ravages of the sentient species dotting the world. He would protect and carefully cultivate the land, guaranteeing that it’s bounty would remain for future generations (very much like John Muir).

Rei gave him that power. He presented Amarigen with a circlet comprised of some strange silvery material he’d never seen. The instant Rei placed it on his brow Amarigen was flooded with power, more than he’d ever dreamed possible.

Rei explained to Amarigen that the world needed guidance. The mortal races would devour its resources like a swarm of locusts given the chance, and only someone like Amarigen could prevent that from happening. He would need to serve as creation’s shepherd, guiding his followers to teach everyone to respect the land.

Amarigen eagerly accepted this charge. He dearly wished to safeguard the world from the threats Rei described, and used his newfound powers to teach all willing to listen about the proper ways to tend the land. Because food was more dear than gold or gems nearly every settlement he visited was willing to accept his teachings.

Within a few years Amarigen had recruited thousands of followers, each eager and willing to spread his teaching to new disciples. Amarigen was greatly pleased by this success, and has carefully tended to the religions that follow him ever since.

Orders of Amarigen

Amerigan’s orders are less organized than most of the other Stewards. They are broken into three general groups, each of which tends to a different task.

Druids– the druids tend to the wilds of the West. They keep the land healthy, removing blights or dealing with threats. Each druid tends to stake out a specific swathe of land to look over, though some tend to roam the world tending the land everywhere they go.

Shepherds– the shepherds are one of the most highly valued groups of dedicated in the world. Shepherds tend the land much as druids do, but rather than take care of the wilds they tend to human settlements. They help crops grow, provide a larger yield and prevent loss from pests or frost. Almost every community in the west has a Shepherd, and those that do not always wish they had.

Rangers– The third order to follow Amarigen are the rangers. Rangers are far more martial than either druids or shepherds, but serve much the same purpose. They tend to the land and remove threats where possible, though as their name implies they tend to range over a much greater territory than either druids or shepherds.

Domains: Magic & Knowledge

Celeste is the Stewardess of both magic and knowledge. Each of the Stewards is a powerful mage in their own right, but no one claims the kind of mastery over the circle of eight that she possesses. Celeste has quite literally mastered every type of magic, including the greater paths. To her such mastery is merely an extension of her thirst for knowledge, an attribute she insists her followers share.

Celeste as a Mortal

Celeste was a beautiful woman with long blond hair and stunning blue eyes. She was soft spoken, but with a quick temper that is often the hallmark of a Fire Aspect. The first school of magic she mastered was destruction, taught in service to a small and aggressive kingdom that has since faded into history.

Despite her incredible skill at the greater path of destruction Celeste thirsted for more. She wanted to learn all magic, which could never be done while serving the masters who’d originally taught her. So she left.

The kingdom sent a team to recover her. She dealt with them. Three more were sent in rapid succession, but each met with a similar fate. After that her former masters left her alone, and she spent the next several years delving into the secrets of first divination and then enchanting.

By the time Rei found her she’d mastered five greater paths and been to fifteen catalysts, with no intention of slowing her journey.

Elevated by Rei

Celeste awoke one day to find herself at the top of Mount Shyar, a place she’d never been much less heard of. Her first reaction was to attack the strange golden figure standing before her. Every spell she threw, no matter how powerful or from what path, was simply nullified when it reached the figure. After a dozen attempts Celeste finally subsided, waiting for the figure to attack.

Instead Rei told her something that chilled her to the core. I am not nearly as powerful as the eldest gods. If you cannot face me, then you’d be as a child before them. Celeste felt something she’d never experienced, not even before she’d cast her first spell. Fear.

Rei continued, saying that in order for the world to defend itself against the return of an elder god it must have one able to command the greatests of magics. He snapped a golden bracelet set with a giant ruby around her wrist, which flooded her with immense power.

Even now, Rei said, you do not have the strength to best me. But it is a beginning. Go forth an gather as many faithful as you can. As their ranks swell so shall your power. Treat them well, lest they forsake you.

Celeste did as he asked. She gathered all who wished to learn, opening the first Celestial Academy in the city that would one day become the capital of the Elentian empire. For centuries she instructed her followers in the magical arts, training them to unlock the Circle of Eight.

Her followers scoured the world for knowledge, particularly anything about the time before the godswar. Rei’s demonstration still terrified Celeste centuries later, so she strove her utmost to increase her number of followers and find any information about the elder gods.

Since then she has gleaned a few secrets, but after nearly two millenia of searching true knowledge of the elder gods remains tantalizingly elusive. Still, her search continues as does that of her followers. Celeste’s temple pays a bounty on all books, particularly those they do not yet possess.

Orders of Celeste

Celeste’s followers are divided into many different orders, however two have gained prominence in the Hasran Imperium, which is the center of her worship:

Histors– None of Celeste’s followers share her thirst for knowledge quite like the Histors. The Histors will journey to troll infested catalysts, to the hostile Ashlands in search of a single scrap of knowledge they do not posses. They maintain most of Celeste’s temples, and tend to her great libraries in the cities of Valys and Hasra. Most histors tend to be very scholarly, though more than a few have picked up some destruction magic to aid their search for knowledge.

The Imperial Battlemages– The battlemages are the most widely feared of Celeste’s followers, and for good reason. Much like the Stewardess herself they strive to master the greater path of destruction, serving as the signature weapon of the Hasran Imperium. Battlemages are known the world over, and those who worship Celeste are often more powerful than their less enlightened counterparts.

Aelianna is the Stewardess of Life & Purity. It is her responsibility to keep the world healthy, which means erradicating sickness, disease or corruption. This applies not just to individuals, but to the life realm itself. Aelianna and her followers are charged with hunting down and eliminating any outsiders that infiltrate our realm. Demons, undead, and Dream Spawn are all considered unclean.
Life as a Mortal

Prior to her elevation to near-godhood Aeliana was a Life Mage of incredible renown. She’d been to over a dozen catalysts, and only Celeste was accounted a more powerful mage. Aelianna presided over a small kingdom, one considered both enlightened and benevolent by its neighbors.

This kingdom was built around the life catalyst known as the Viel of Rashara in the northwestern region of what is now the Ashlands. Aelianna created an order of life mages that served the people of her nation, ensuring that sickness and disease were problems of the past. Her people were healthy, whole and well fed in a time when daily bread was worth far more than any amount of gold.

She was approached by the god Rei, who brought her to the top of Mount Shyar near the center of what is now the Ashlands. He explained to her that the world was at a crossroads. If the light of civilization did not return, if the people were not organized into a united force, then all was doomed.

Not every god had been killed in the godswar, several having fled into the void to avoid losing. Should one of the elder gods return the world was powerless to stop them in their current state. Most of the elder gods were vengeful, and it was quite likely that the first to return could wipe out all life in revenge for losing the godswar.

Aelianna was horrified by the prospect, and asked how these elder gods could be stopped. Rei explained that only a world united in purpose and strengthened by powerful heroes would have any chance of survival. He asked her to be one of these heroes and to work with others to create such a world.

Elevation to Near-Godhood

Aelianna accepted Rei’s offer. He gave her a pendant made from an irridesant material, and it pulsed with more power than any eldimagus she’d held or even heard of. Rei placed it around her neck, and she was instantly filled with incredible power.

The god explained that her power would become greater still as she recruited followers to her cause. He likened such followers to a garden, explaining that only through careful cultivation could her power continue to grow. And grow it must, if the world was to have any chance of surviving.

Aelianna had no trouble believing his words. She’d seen the blasted lands and knew them to be a byproduct of the godswar. If such destruction were to visit the world again then the world had to be prepared if it were to survive.

She took up her new responsibilities eagerly, immediately converting her kingdom to loyal worshippers. She used her newfound powers to improve their quality of life, and to keep them safe from the myriad of dangers present in the world at that time. She helped forge the Elentian empire, adding the strength of her own kingdom just as the other Stewards did.

Aelianna’s Orders

Aelianna seeks to keep the world free of foreign influences such as spirits, undead, demons or waking dreams. Her followers are given the ability to combat and overcome such creatures using Life magic, and over the centuries the denizens of the dark have learned to fear them.

Those followers are broken into several orders:

Physicians– this order specializes in tending to the sick, wounded or diseased. Physicians who are capable learn Life Magic, while those who are not rely on Aelianna’s dedications to grant them the strength to aid those in need. Physicians are highly respected and most people will go out of their way to avoid harming one whenever possible.

Order of the White Hand– Of the several martial orders that follow Aelianna the White Hand has suffered the most in the last decade and a half. These monks served as a vanguard against both the consumed and the Maw Pirates, battling for nearly a hundred and fifty years to prevent Hasra from being overrun by the vampyr.

When the war ended so did their usefullness. Since then they have been viewed as obsolete, no longer needed because the enemy they fought against for so long has vanished. With each passing year they gain fewer recruits, and more older members leave the order to pursue their own agendas in far away lands.

This trend greatly worries Aelianna, who believes that the White Hand will be needed again in the days to come. She believes that the current peace is temporary, and that sooner or later a threat will emerge that requires the strength of the White Hand.

Aelianna is the Stewardess of Life & Purity. It is her responsibility to keep the world healthy, which means erradicating sickness, disease or corruption. This corruption can take many many forms, from the undead, to the demon tainted to living nightmares. None belong in the Life Realm, and Aelianna’s followers dedicate their lives to destroying them wherever they are found.

Life as a Mortal

Prior to her elevation to near-godhood Aeliana was a Life Mage of incredible renown. She’d been to over a dozen catalysts, and only Celeste was accounted a more powerful mage. Aelianna presided over a small kingdom, one considered both enlightened and benevolent by it’s neighbors.

The gods are dead, but they are not gone. Their bodies remain, brimming with divine power. Those brave enough to seek out their remains can gain great magic, or be consumed by the very magic they seek to harness. Each god had one or more Aspects, collectively forming the Circle of Eight. Air– this aspect is the most ephemeral and unpredictable of the eight. It allows the caster to command the winds, summon bolts of lightning and even allows them to fly. Earth– this aspect is the most unyielding and solid of the eight. It allows the caster to command not only stone, mud and earth, but also grants dominion over all plants. Dream– this aspect is ephermal and ever changing and is tied to the Dream Realm. It allows the caster to put others to sleep, manipulate dreams and to use glamours to charm others. Dream is the realm component of both Illusion and Divination, two of the most utilitarian Greater Paths.
Life– this aspect is the most tighly bound with the world, as it is connected to the Mortal Realm. It allows the caster to create light, cure poisons and diseases and to heal the injured. It is the realm component of both enchanting and nature, the two most highly sough paths by every kingdom in the West.

Spirit– this aspect is tied to the Spirit Realm. It allows the caster to communicate with the dead and to inflict horrible suffering on the souls of others. It is the realm component of both Binding and Protection, giving it enormous utility.
Void– this aspect is tied to the Endless Void, which encompasses the Great Cycle itself.
